Newly established Cork Youth Ballet Company first performance to take place in Firkin Crane on Wednesday March 16 On Wednesday March 16, the inaugural performance of the recently formed Cork Youth Ballet Company will take place in Firkin Crane at 8pm. Book Here

Founded in 2015 by Sinead Murphy and based in Firkin Crane, Cork Youth Ballet Company provides opportunities for young dancers in Cork to train as a company. Company members work with local dance professionals as well as internationally recognized teachers,  choreographers and dance artists. Cork has so many talented dancers and for the first time Cork Youth Ballet Company allows these dancers to come together and work as a unit in a company based situation.

To celebrate the inaugural performance of Cork Youth Ballet, Out Of The Black a programme of new works by choreographers Sinead Murphy and Inma Pavon will be performed in Firkin Crane on Wednesday March 16 by dancers from Cork Youth Ballet Company.

This exciting new programme will showcases the talent and versatility of the Cork Youth Ballet Company dancers. The title piece Out Of The Black devised by lighting designer Tim Feehily and choreographer Sinead Murphy to music by The London Underground shows each dancers ability to find the light out of the darkness. Other new works include Mirrors, a dance based on the idea of the mirror effect, Rhapsody which is choreographed to the iconic music by George Gershwin and Sirens a celebration of the beauty of the female form as it moves through space. The dancers will also pay tribute to legendary American choreographer Merce Cunningham as part of the performance.

The 17 dancers in Cork Youth Ballet Company are drawn from five dance schools including Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa Dance Course, Ballet Theatre Ireland, Cork School of Dance, Lucy French School of Dance and Wolf Dance School.
