The THEATRIX 17th Annual Performing Arts Summer Camp

Monday 1st to Friday 12th July 2019 (2 weeks)
The course runs from Monday to Friday both weeks and from 10am – 4pm daily. This Summer Camp is suitable for boys and girls aged 7 to 20 years.

Now in it’s 17th successive year this exciting Musical Theatre Performing Arts course has become an annual event for many of Cork’s young up and coming performers.

Workshops in Music, Singing, Drama and Dance will be facilitated simultaneously by professional tutors in 4 fully equipped studios. With the emphasis on fun and enjoyment, all students are encouraged to take part in all activities regardless of age or experience.

All Summer Camp participants will take part in the end of course showcase performance at Firkin Crane on Friday 12th July at 7pm.

The 2019 Summer Camp will be facilitated by Irene Warren, Dane O’Sullivan, Damien Delaney and Stephen Harris.

Irene Warren:

Irene is the founder and principal of The Performers Academy, one of Cork’s foremost stage schools, established in 2007 after Irene returned to her native Cork after a ten year career on London’s West End. Roles include Eponine in Les Miserables, Ellen in Miss Saigon, Dinah in Starlight Express and Sandy in Grease.

Irene is no stranger to the Cork Stage having performed in numerous productions in the Cork Opera House and The Everyman Palace. She holds a Fellowship with London College in Drama. She is a fully qualified Licentiate teacher of Speech and Drama. Irene has appeared in Father Ted and numerous TV commercials for Heineken, Knorr and Low Low Butter.

Dane O’Sullivan:

Dane travelled to Body Work dance studios in Cambridge at the age of 17 where he was awarded the prestigious ‘Board of Trustees’ scholarship for 4 years training. Dane graduated in 2005 with a national diploma in Professional Musical Theatre from Trinity College London. Dane’s TV credits include The Tudors, Northanger Abbey and Fame The Musical. Theatre credits include Troy in High School Musical, Robin in Robin Hood and Diego in Man of La Mancha. Dane was also a senior dancer in many Cork Opera House productions under the direction of the late Bryan Flynn.

Dane’s first passion has always been teaching and he has been awarded a distinction in Speech and Drama teaching from the London College under the direction of Mary Curtin, he has been head of dance at the Performers Academy for the past 5 years and is the resident choreographer for all Performers Academy productions. Dane has recently completed a master’s degree in primary education with Hibernia College where he was awarded the Student of the Year 2016.

Damien Delaney:

Damien trained at the London Studio Centre. West End credits include Cats, Hard Times, Tonight’s The Night and the original cast of Billy Elliot where he was swing and children’s dance captain.

Choreography credits include: Pump Up My Dance, Alexander The Great, Ex The Musical, Into The Woods, Oklahoma, On The Town, Cinderella, Cabaret and Sweet Charity. Damien is a Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre Dance at the University of Chichester.

Steven Harris:

Steven’s choreography credits include: Chess Co-Director/Choreographer (Union Theatre and Offies Nominee for Best Choreographer 2014), The Sound of Music, Evita, My Fair Lady, Singin In The Rain, Mack and Mabel. His play credits include: Twelfth Night Oxford Shakespeare Company, Left Hand Third Finger, Alison! A Rock Opera

Other credits include Associate Choreographer Steven Ward Aldwych Theatre London, Choreographer Stephen Mear Director Richard Eyre.
