Choreography on Screen: Bodies, Text, Music, Camera & Editing
This class will use excerpts from my work to explore the evolution from pure dance-on-film to experiments with narrative that combine text with movement, to the realisation of dramas/documentaries interspersed with choreographed sequences. It will look at choreography as an organising principle vital not only to the movement of bodies on-screen, but also to the role of poetic text, musical composition, camera and editing in film. I will discuss how all these elements interrelate and ideally integrate, in the creation of embodied narrative structures.
Links to works will be sent in advance of the class as well as being played via zoom link during the class
