In a new development, Firkin Crane offers bespoke online advice and support sessions, on an open call rolling basis. Led by Interim Director Paul Johnson these sessions are part of our Professional Development suite of supports.

Who is it for: individuals and groups – at any stage of their practice and career (student, emerging, mid-career & established) including dancers, movement devisers; choreographers; partnerships and collaborations, ensembles (ad hoc, new & established) and companies.

These sessions are also open to those with an interest in making dance connections, including multi-disciplinary & interdisciplinary practitioners looking to connect with the dance sector.

Format: 30/40mins online (Zoom) meetings.

What can be covered? Whatever you need, including career advice, opportunities, grant-writing support, introductions & connections or just blue-sky thinking. Or maybe this is the opportunity to talk about your career and practice, chat about your ambitions and or ask questions about how Firkin Crane can support your practice and development.

Paul Johnson is Interim Director of Firkin Crane until September 2021. He is leading on developing Firkin Crane’s strategy, with oversight of the 2021 and 2022 artistic programme, and will work with the board and team on the transition to a new creative and executive leadership.

Currently working as a freelance arts and culture consultant, he had a 21-year career as a performer, choreographer and creative collaborator, including directing his own company MaNDaNCE (1991 -2001) and Choreographer in Residence at Project Arts Centre (1998-2001), before becoming Artists’ Services Manager with The Arts Council (2003-06) and Chief Executive of Dance Ireland (2006-20).
