Blank Canvas
BLANK CANVAS is a professional dance residency programme at the Firkin Crane open to professional dance artists already making their career in dance. The residency provides a platform for incubation time and space to research, develop and explore creative ideas without emphasis on a finished production. The programme is moulded into phases, with each phase having at least two different artists or companies, using different studios. They then come together on the final day of the phase for a joint public sharing.BLANK CANVAS works in partnership with each artist to support the needs of their residency, subject to resources available.
The name BLANK CANVAS serves well the ethos of our professional dance residency programme that is pointedly artist-driven, within the supportive structures provided by the Firkin Crane. In addition, we provide a deeply-layered level of creative support through the highly experienced team responsible for creating and running the programme.
Throughout the individual residencies the Firkin Crane provides a supportive environment to germinate creative endeavors, build bridges amongst artists, allowing for professional exchange, exploration and artistic growth.
