The Magic of Dance

Date: 11 May 2012
Cork School of Dance presents THE MAGIC OF DANCE at Cork Opera House on 20th May 2012.

Directed and choreographed by the school director Sinead Murphy, with lighting and visual design by Tim Feehily.

The production is dedicated to the memory of Joan Denise Moriarty whose life and achievements are being celebrated this year. Sinéad trained with the late Joan Denise Moriarty and became principal teacher at the Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance before opening her own school, Cork School of Dance at the Firkin Crane, the home of dance in Cork, in 2009.

The show will feature excerpts from Coppélia which was the last production presented by Joan Denise Moriarty’s Cork Ballet Company in 1993. The programme will also include pieces specially choreographed by Sinead: Rhapsody in Blue, Fleurs du Mal, Earthsong, Mystical Light, Spirit of Dawn, Pulstar and the Polovtsian Dances from the opera Prince Igor which featured in the Joan Denise Moriarty Centenary Gala performance in the Firkin Crane in March this year. The show will highlight the talent, dedication and the enthusiasm of all the students.

Come along and be entertained by the students from Cork School of Dance.

Tickets available from the box office at Cork Opera House, telephone 021 4270022 or on-line at http://www.corkoperahouse.ie
