Dancers, choreographers, anyone involved with or interested in dance, were invited to join in. Many visitors came simply to see this unique building and were drawn in to the excitement and thrill of the dance.
Throughout the evening, almost 400 people thronged the many spaces, demonstrating the variety, imagination and vibrancy of dance in Cork, and proving that, no matter what a visitor's age, experience, or level of agility, there will always be something to try, as participant or audience.
The evening's programme included performances by the newly founded Cork School of Dance (and featured a rare public performance by the Director Sinead Murphy), the Gaeity School of Performance (including an impromptu masterclass in German for a group of delighted visiting students) and a lovely, peaceful Movement Offering by Claire Osbourne and Laura O'Brien. Juliette Jones, who had only come to register for the Firkin Crane's new Irish Dancing class, was prevailed upon to give a lively demonstration.
Many tried out Salsa, Tango or Hip-Hop, and resolved to come back again for further classes!
