CSN Diploma In Dance Graduation Performance

25 May 2011 - 26 May 2011
11.00am, 8.00pm
Tickets: €20/15 - School show €10 The Diploma in Dance Course from the Department of Performing Arts at Colaiste Stiofain Naofa, Tramore Road, Cork is proud to present its Graduation Performance.

Directed and produced by course director Alan Foley, this production will showcase the varied talents of the students – ranging from classical ballet (Le Corsaire) to energetic hip-hop and jazz dance (Ne-Yo, Lady Gaga and Jessie J), and a touch of oriental. Staff members Jane Kellaghan and Patricia Crosbie have also produced original contemporary and modern choreography with the students.

Leigh Alderson who trained at London’s Royal Ballet School is the principal guest artist this year and will perform in Alan Foley’s new ballet Black Swan with the students.

The programme will also premiere new choreography by some of the students from the college including Edgar O’ Connor, Stephen Hamilton and Amy O’ Sullivan. Two of the students on the dance course - James Berkery and Kevin Hayes - performed with Cork City Ballet in the company’s production of Swan Lake at the Cork Opera House in November 2010, and another three toured Behind The Scenes with CruX Dance Theatre, directed by Jane Kellaghan, in Jan/Feb. In April all of the students travelled to St.Petersburg, Russia, to study with some of the world’s most illustrious dancers and teachers from the famous Vaganova (Kirov) Ballet School.

Former students of this course are currently dancing all over the world, and more have gone on to appear in West End productions such as Chicago, West Side Story, Mamma Mia and Wicked, as well as becoming teachers, choreographers, designers and dance directors.

Course director Alan Foley said “we at CSN Dance promise to deliver an action packed performance, which will leave you thoroughly refreshed and wanting more”.
