Boiling Point / The Machine that Carries the Soul
25 Nov 2009 - 26 Nov 2009
03.00 pm and 08.00pm
Tickets: €12/8
The BLANK CANVAS residents this month are Phluxus Dance Collective, from Brisbane, Australia. Nerida Matthaei, Chafia Brookes and Skye Sewell - independent dance artists but devising and creating collaboratively since 2006 - are currently working on creating a visceral dance work exploring the concept of Boiling Point: “A function of transformation, high-impact, transcendence, a moment in time, containment on the edge of explosion, agitation, at the point of panic, your blood is boiling and the situation becomes critical, pushed to 100 degrees…” writes Nerida Matthaei.
Phluxus will present their newly created work together with excerpts from their acclaimed dance theatre piece The Machine That Carries The Soul. Described as “beautiful in its simplicity and intensity” and “wonderfully imaginative” this work delves into the subconscious as three women encounter their bodies' physical manifestations of emotional experience.
Phluxus Dance Collective’s performance will be a highlight of BLANK CANVAS 2009.
