Skye Sewell
Skye Sewell is a Brisbane based performer and choreographer with a Batchelor of Theatre from James Cook University and an Associate Degree in Dance from the Queensland University of Technology. While in North Queensland Skye was an associate lecturer in the Batchelor of Theatre degree at JCU and is now a sessional staff member in the Dance Department at QUT. After two years as a performer and the Tour Manager of Expressions Dance Company’s Education Team, Skye spent six months at The Australian Choreographic Centre. In 2005/06 Skye appeared in four works by Claire Marshall and has appeared in film clips for The John Butler Trio, Daughterboy Jao and The Sleepy Jackson. Skye has been commissioned to create new youth works for Extensions Youth Dance Company, Expressions Dance Company and the Australian Choreographic Centre. Most recently Skye was engaged as a guest dancer with Buzz Dance Theatre (WA) performing in a remount of Chrissie Parrott‘s seminal work Terminal Velocity and Refund Policy by Aimee Smith.Skye is originally from Townsville, however she re-located to Canberra in 2005 to work at The Australian Choreographic Centre for six months. Therefore she also has strong ties to the Canberra arts sector.
