CruX Dance Theatre
Since 1995, Artistic Director Jane Kellaghan has been a dancer, teacher and choreographer at the Firkin Crane. During this time, she pioneered the development of professional contemporary dance in Cork, providing opportunities for local and international dancers through the creation of works for CruX Dance Theatre and Cork City Ballet, and running contemporary dance training courses in association with Coláiste Stíofáin Naofa and the Firkin Crane.CruX is committed to integrating elements of film, photography and sound in innovative choreographic investigations. This has provided integral to contextualising the ideas and transmitting them to a wider audiences.
Jane Kellaghan has worked with Paul McCarthy of the Firkin Crane on many artistic levels, including concept development, lighting design and production management. Through this partnership, CruX provides greater possibilities for professional dancers to access creative performance and employment opportunities.
The dynamic association between CruX and the Firkin Crane creates a stimulating and supportive environment in which to work , providing a permanent office space, access to studios, the stage and all technical/ production resources available.
