Chafia Brooks

Chafia Brooks began her performance experience in 2001 with the Quantum Leap Youth Choreographic Ensemble in Canberra. She continued her dance training at The Queensland University of Technology graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. In her final year Chafia performed at the Taiwanese International Dance Conference in collaboration with Csaba Buday (QUT) and Ming Shen Ku (Taiwan). As an independent dancer Chafia has worked throughout Austraila and overseas with Claire Marshall, Joseph Lau, Ricky Sim and Dancers (Singapore), Rebcca Hilton and Sela Kiek. This year Chafia joined the Expressions Dance Company education team, touring throughout regional Queensland. Most recently she was chosen to participate in the World Dance Alliance “Choreo-Lab”, under the mentorship of Lloyd Newson (DV8 Physical Theatre, London) and Boi Sakti (Indonesia). Chafia has also enjoyed working on more commercial projects performing at music festivals, club venues and corporate events and appearing in film clips for; Darren Hayes, Little Birdy, The Living End, The Sleepy Jackson, Youth Group and Powderfinger.
