The advantages to the Firkin Crane and the local dance community of having a dedicated treatment facility on-site include:

- Available all open hours of the Firkin Crane including evenings and weekends (i.e. not just business hours like some practices).
- On-site convenience for any dancer working at the Firkin Crane. This is particularly so for visitors to the city, who may not have local information about facilities and services.
- Flexible hours to suit a dancer's schedule.
- An available resource for all aspects of dance health and wellbeing, offering free advice, opinion and feedback.
- A therapist with a skill set complementary to the assessment and treatment of dance-related insult, complaint or shortfall.
- A therapist who listens to the aims of a dancer and someone who understands that a dancer's physical demands begin where most other people's end.
- A therapist with an interest in and and an aim to understanding better, dance injury & rehab for dancers, and the wholistic wellness that goes with injury prevention and performance enhancement (meaning mental, physical and emotional efficacy).
- For Dance Diploma students - filling in a vital role in their learning experience by:
a) providing weekly talks on diverse topics of practical wellness relevant to dance; b) being available at any time for free advice,
opinion and feedback.

"Treatment" is so much more than just a giving a rub. Postural imbalances or misalignments can cause restrictions or bring on recurring injuries, as can
someone's lifestyle (e.g. difficulty sleeping - not enough rest), nutrition (causing the sleeplessness), breathing awareness (reduce tension or maintain grounding), and many simple but clever tricks to release tension or change mindset and improve speed of recovery.
